International Air Power Review (IAPR) was initially issued quarterly by Aerospace Publishing Ltd, AIRtime Publishing Inc. from the Summer of 2001 through 2010, but publication became sporadic in the last years. This content of the series was an amalgamation of this publisher’s World Air Power Journal (WAPJ) and Wings of Fame (WoF) efforts. In the Summer of 2001 both of these series ended and publication shifted to the International Air Power Review.
International Air Power Review volumes were slightly longer at 176 pages including the Index. They were very well illustrated as were their predecessors, each issue featuring several color profiles, three-views, drawings, and color and black & white photographs printed on glossy paper. The contents were organized into standardized sections each of which featured a different perspective on the subject aircraft (see content listings below). Format was a generous 12 x 9 inches (304 x 229 mm). Feature articles typically ran for several dozen pages including a four-page gatefold, cutaway drawing, detail photographs, color schemes and more, practically a reference within itself. Production quality was kept high throughout the series.
Subscribers could choose between two formats, the expected soft binding with card covers or a more expensive hardbound version in dustjacket which is more favored with collectors. In addition, there were six “Compendium” volumes, hardbound in dustjackets, each of which contained the contents of four quarterly issues.
One problem a modeler can have with any periodical publication, even a high-quality series such as WPAJ, is finding the specific issue which contains information on the subject one is researching. Years ago, I compiled listings of the contents of each volume and saved them to a Word file on my computer. This document can be searched within Word to find the relevant articles. If you collect this series simply copy the listings below and save them to your computer to make searching for topics easier.
