north mid 50s would not surprise on high temps. there's a low to the north and then the moisture plume coming in. now there is a lot of this has gone from south to north and continues to lift north watch in the last few. so this is marin county over to solano county lifting into southern sonoma and napa. but the main focus is south definitely san jose, santa cruz mountains, santa clara valley down to monterey peninsula as well. now we're not expecting excessive amounts. it's just good old fashioned rain. but there could be some decent. i think they'll be more than that in the santa cruz mountains. i think the forecast models are missing this. i'm not really missing it, but they're missing it. cloudy and rain for most. breezy. colder. maybe. showers to the north, but this is a rainy pattern here for especially areas that did not have much last week 5060 on the temps. all right alice here. maybe she'll go south first. don't know. let's ask her. >> we will go. we're not going to go south this time around. we're going to focus on your east contra costa commute. because westbound highway four, as usual, is slow. again this morning. there's no major

specifically on women and children. >> yeah, the women and children and their health outcomes. and the social outcomes are a reflection of how well we're taking care of our public health and public policy. so it becomes important focus. and of course, the future of the country depends on how well our kids are. >> what are the current concerns that need to be addressed and according to your your research and how do we improve on those things? >> yeah, american health ranking, especially this year, found that nationally we're not doing that well on maternal mortality and women's death rate in a way related to drug and injury. and then we wanted to improve the c-section rates for women, low risk c-section rates, and they have remained flat and then, of course, adequate prenatal care has also is not fully up to mark in kids. we are seeing that there are some good
8:40 am
things that has happened, which is obesity and prevalence of overweight has gone down. suicidality has gone down too, but they have definitely increased in mortality because of, again, drug deaths and injury. so there's so much to be said. but i would say california ranked high at 14. and we are excited about it because women's mortality rate actually improved in california. we also see that kids are getting better care. and of course they are on wing programs. so those are things that have helped california to improve their women and children health. >> that's some good news here in california. let's go back to that prenatal care. we've talked a lot about women of color in particular, disproportionately disproportionately having a higher mortality rate when pregnant and giving birth. are we doing better with that? and why is there that lack of
8:41 am
prenatal care, maybe especially for them. and then their handling and their and their outcomes in the hospital? >> absolutely. i think prenatal care depends on access. and women, minority women of minority, get the short end of that. so health disparity were noticed, not just women of color, but also women who had disability. this time we did look at disability and veteran status and others, and we did find more disparity in that subgroup of women. so, you know, this the american health ranking is out there to support a healthy people, 20, 30 goals that we have set for us for public policy, public health, even for individuals and community. so looking at that as a gap area, we are hoping that we could influence how we get to our goals with with public policy in addition to public

policy. >> what would you say is your biggest advice as a doctor for women and families to protect themselves and children in particular? what what are some some critical things we need to do? >> one of the gap areas that we did see in even california is well visits, both for women and children. and that we did not do well. and nationally also we do not do well. so seeing your primary care provider and assessing your care gaps, that could be anything from cholesterol, even in kids, in teenagers to all the way to vaccination gaps. those are very, very important things. so they help aid a better prenatal because a woman who is well before conceiving is going to be doing much better during the prenatal time to and time to your primary care provider, will have a path to have a good access to an ob gyn or a women's health provider who could
