A street outside a London private school has been locked down as police respond to a stabbing on a night bus. Emergency services were called to Stratheden Road in Blackheath, Southeast London, at around 4:30am on Sunday morning following reports of "an altercation on a bus". The incident is thought to have occurred at the road's junction with the A2, near The Pointers school.
Officers provided first aid to a 24-year-old man who later received hospital treatment for injuries that were not judged to be life-threatening. the Metropolitan Police said. Three people were taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service after initial treatment and a police officer also received medical attention after being injured by glass. A 40-year-old man was arrested on Stratheden Road on suspicion of grevious bodily harm and has been taken into custody after initially being treated in hospital for a head injury.

Police have cordoned off a stretch of Stratheden Road, with photos showing the night bus included in the perimeter. A heavy officer presence is in force at the scene, with forensic investigations underway to determine the circumstances of the incident.
Local buses have been diverted by authorities, with Transport for London routes 108, 286 and 335 taking alternative routes to avoid the closure between the B210 Vanbrugh Park and A2 Shooters Hill Road.
Residents have also been advised to avoid the area and check for travel updates before setting out on journeys.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 4.37am today (March 30) to reports of a stabbing at the junction of Shooters Hill Road and Stratheden Road, SE3.
“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, incident response officers and a paramedic in a fast response car. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.
“We treated three people at the scene and took them to hospital.”
The Metropolitan Police said a crime scene will remain in place in Blackheath while investigations continue.
